The Courier

At the Courier, my work is mainly designing the pages for the everyday newspaper, I do it all from interior, exterior, and sports sections. I originally got to design for four separate papers—the Norwalk Reflector, the Review Times, the Advertiser-Tribune, and the Courier—but have now moved to specializing my work to two of those original papers because of internal changes—the Review Times and the Courier.

I was also given the opportunity to create the covers for the Courier’s special editions this fall.

Fall Sports Special Edition Cover - Procreate, Illustrator, & InDesign

For this cover, my goal was to portray each sport that was found inside and to challenge myself to illustrate very dynamic poses with lots of motion while still staying true to my style of illustration. I had a lot of fun playing with the FHS color palette and being able to play with the typography to create something eye catching and professional.

Spirit Special Edition Cover - Canva & InDesign

For this cover, I originally intended to create another illustration—like the Fall Sports Special Edition—that portrayed band, cheer, and majorettes but the deadline was miscommunicated so I was given the opportunity to challenge myself to create a design in a very short time frame. I chose to explore a collage style for this cover using sheet music, tickets, ruled paper, and other elements that used the FHS color palette.
